International Plant Appreciation Day

Calling all plant lovers, people with indoor jungles, or anybody who likes house plants! Join us for our COMMUNITY PLANT SWAP & POTLUCK!

On International Plant Appreciation Day on April 13, plant lovers throughout the world get together to express their appreciation for these green oxygen machines. To properly honor this natural gift, the event also discusses the myriad benefits plants provide to the environment, such as improving air quality, creating small wildlife habitats, and making dwellings more visually appealing. Furthermore, this day occurs in spring, which is the prime tree and plant growing season.

Simply bring your plant cuttings, plant babies, or extra house plants and be ready to trade, barter, exchange, swap, or gift them with other plant people! Our space will be open the entire time, but we suggest arriving at 3pm for the best swaps, trades, & dishes.

This event is free to enter, but we ask that you bring one food dish and one potted plant as your entry fee. This allows everyone to experience the potluck and walk away with a new plant!

The focus of this event is not to bring in donations for our studio, but rather to bring our community together.

Maybe you're thinking "I don't have a green thumb, I'll just kill the plant". You are not alone in this thinking and you won't be the first to kill plants. While the term "green thumb" is widely known, the concept seems to have been lost. We were not born with a green thumb, growing a plant is like developing a new relationship every time we bring a new plant home. We have to learn how it communicates its needs. We don't always get this on our first try and sometimes the plant is collateral damage, BUT luckily, most plants aren't endangered and thus you can "try try again".

For our Potluck portion of the event, in honor of plant day, we challenge you to include something that comes from a garden in your dish! Seems simple enough, right?

We can't wait to celebrate the studios first Plant Day with you all!
